Photo post: Lake District Backpack, Ambleside to Keswick

Here are some shots of my two night backpack over the Bank Holiday weekend. ‘Twas freakishly warm yet damp and muggy… not the best conditions for walking in some ways but grand all the same. Click on the thumbnails to view larger images.

Route: Ambleside – Loughrigg Tarn – Lingmoor Fell – Pike o Blisco – Camp – Crinkle Crags – Bowfell – Esk Pike – Great Gable – Green Gable – Brandreth – Grey Knotts – Honister – Dale Head – Dale Head Tarn (Camp) – Tongue Gill – Allerdale Ramble.

Thanks Andy. It was the best of times… the fells were surprisingly quiet in the evenings given the weekend.

Looks like you had fabulous weather for wild camping, doesn’t usually happen to me :) Thanks for sharing!

Great set of photos, and they really inspire me to get back up to the Lakes at soon as I can. It’s been far too long and I’m having withdrawal symptoms!

Hi, thanks for stopping by. I have fallen back in love with the Lakes this year after Scottish distractions ( although I am back north of the border tomorrow).

Hope to have an autumn trip when the fells will have a different hue.

    Hello,

I work on communications projects for the National Trust. We’re trying to get hold of you to invite you to the launch of a new appeal later this month – ‘Fix The Fells’ (all about protecting our spectacular Lakeland fells from erosion by maintaining and repairing the paths).

I emailed you via your web contact form last week, but I’m not sure if you received it? If you could drop me a quick email, I can tell you more about it all. I’m at serena.cowdy@nationaltrust.org.uk.

    Thanks very much! Serena
